After eight long years of legal battles, Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement, bringing closure to one of the most prolonged divorces in Hollywood history. Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, shared the news with The Associated Press, expressing that while the actress is relieved to have this chapter come to an end, she also feels exhausted from the lengthy and often contentious process.
Simon explained, "More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."
The details of the settlement, including how their assets and child custody were divided, remain confidential, as the couple enlisted a private judge to handle their case. The public has been kept in the dark about the specifics, but the conclusion of the legal process marks the end of an era for one of Hollywood’s most talked-about couples.
Jolie and Pitt, who were together for 12 years and share six children, first made headlines in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce following an incident on a private jet, during which she accused Pitt of being abusive toward her and their children. The divorce was granted in 2019, and they were officially declared single at that time. However, the division of assets and custody arrangements remained unresolved for several more years.
On the work front, Jolie was last seen in the film Maria, while Pitt recently shared the screen with his close friend George Clooney in Wolves.
