In Meerut, a class 12 student murders a friend for stealing the pictures and videos of his girlfriend

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, when a 16-year-old schoolboy was brutally murdered by his Class 12 schoolmate after a dispute involving private photos and videos. The accused, a Class 12 student, reportedly grew enraged when his schoolmate transferred personal and private images of him with his girlfriend from his phone without consent. This breach of privacy led to a series of events that culminated in the tragic loss of life.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, had been a bright student preparing for the IIT entrance exams. He was described by his family as an ambitious young man, and his death has left a void in his family’s life. On the evening of the murder, the victim failed to return home, prompting his family to attempt to reach him by phone. However, his phone was switched off, and after visiting his coaching center, they found that it had been unexpectedly closed for the day. Concerned for his safety, the family reported the boy as missing to the police and launched their own search.

Police investigations soon revealed that the victim had been seen with the accused earlier that day, raising suspicion about their involvement in the disappearance. Initially, the accused misled the authorities, but under further interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The police learned that the accused had invited the victim to a secluded location in Bhavanpur, claiming he was selling his phone for Rs 8,000. The two boys spent some time eating together, but during the interaction, the accused struck the victim on the head with a hammer, killing him instantly.

After confessing, the accused led police officers to the victim's body, which was discovered near a tube well by a river. The murder weapon, a hammer, was recovered from the same location, further corroborating the boy’s confession. The accused admitted to the murder, stating that the victim’s actions regarding the private photos had deeply angered him. He described how the violation of his privacy, particularly about his girlfriend, led to an escalating confrontation that ended in premeditated violence.

Meerut's Superintendent of Police, Ayush Vikram, addressed the media, stating, "The accused confessed that the dispute over personal photographs led to a heated argument, and it eventually resulted in a premeditated murder. The accused is a minor and is currently in custody. We are continuing to investigate the case to determine whether anyone else was involved."

The victim, an only child, had been preparing for one of the most competitive exams in India, the IIT entrance exam. His family, devastated by the loss, expressed their grief and disbelief at the senseless act. They described the young boy as a bright and promising student whose future had been tragically cut short.

The accused, now in police custody, is expected to face legal proceedings. As a minor, he will be dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act. The case has highlighted the potential consequences of online privacy violations and the deep impact such actions can have on relationships and the emotional state of young people. Local authorities have promised a thorough investigation and emphasized that they would take appropriate steps to ensure justice for the victim.

The incident has shocked the community, raising awareness about the importance of respect for personal privacy, particularly among young people who are navigating complex relationships in the digital age. As the investigation continues, the local police and school authorities have pledged to collaborate in preventing such incidents in the future.
