TV star Ravi Dubey has officially confirmed that he will be playing the role of Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari's highly anticipated cinematic retelling of Ramayan. The actor shared this much-awaited update in an exclusive interview with Connect Cine, where he expressed both excitement and a sense of responsibility for finally disclosing his role. He explained that he had been instructed to keep the information under wraps for some time to avoid prematurely revealing details that could affect the strategic plans of the filmmakers, particularly Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra, who had meticulously orchestrated the casting announcements.
“I am playing Lakshman in the film. I finally have permission from the makers to reveal this. I didn’t talk about it all this while because I didn’t want to give irresponsible statements and spoil Namit (Malhotra) and Nitesh sir’s plans to reveal the cast,” Dubey shared, further highlighting the importance of the careful, planned buildup of the film’s cast.
In addition to discussing his own role, Ravi Dubey praised his co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who will portray Lord Ram in this grand epic. He described Kapoor as an incredibly warm and humble person, akin to an elder brother, emphasizing that Kapoor's work ethic is unparalleled. “Every time he is in front of the camera, you will see he has been at it. He is the only commercial, viable artist of this generation,” said Dubey, underscoring Kapoor’s dedication to the craft and his position as one of the most bankable stars in the industry.
Ramayan, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will be a two-part cinematic event, with the first part set to be released in 2026 and the second in 2027. The film promises to be a visual spectacle, bringing to life one of India’s most revered mythological epics. In addition to Ravi Dubey’s portrayal of Lakshman and Ranbir Kapoor’s interpretation of Lord Ram, the film will feature the talented Sai Pallavi in the role of Sita. This star-studded ensemble, combined with Tiwari’s directorial vision, has already stirred immense excitement and anticipation, making it one of the most eagerly awaited films of the decade.
The cinematic adaptation of Ramayan is expected to be a grand, large-scale production, delving into the emotional depth and moral complexities of the iconic characters. Fans of the epic and the film industry alike are looking forward to how Tiwari and his team will bring this age-old story to the modern screen with stunning visuals, compelling performances, and a fresh take on the timeless tale. The film's release promises to be a milestone in Indian cinema, blending mythology with contemporary filmmaking techniques to create an immersive and impactful experience.
