Pawan Kumar Modi, the grieving father of Subhash, poured out his anguish over the uncertainty surrounding his missing grandson. With visible pain, he expressed his deep fears, saying, "We don’t know where she has kept our grandson. Has he been killed, or is he alive? We don’t know anything about him." Modi revealed that despite being a grandfather, he had never met his grandson in person or held him in his arms. Their only connection had been through video calls, which now feel like distant, incomplete memories. His voice trembled as he shared how this loss had added unbearable weight to the sorrow of losing his son.
To make matters worse, Modi was left shocked and distressed upon discovering that Nikita, Subhash’s wife, and her family had allegedly filed a new legal case against him in the name of his missing grandson. This new case, coupled with the ongoing trauma, left him emotionally shattered. In a desperate plea for help, he appealed to prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. "We appeal to them to ensure that my grandson is brought back to me. For a grandfather, his grandson means more than his son. Losing both feels unbearable," he said, his words reflecting both grief and desperation.
Subhash’s brother, Bikas Modi, shared similar concerns about the boy’s well-being, adding that while the police had made progress, the family’s ordeal was far from over. He thanked the Bengaluru police for their efforts so far but emphasized the need for swift and complete justice. "Some individuals involved in this case have been arrested, but there are still others who remain free. We believe the Bengaluru police will act quickly against all those responsible," he said in an interview with India Today. His biggest fear, however, remained the unknown fate of his nephew. "The most pressing concern now is where my brother’s son is. Is he safe, and in what condition is he being kept? These questions haunt us every moment," he added.
The Bengaluru Police arrested Nikita Singhania from Gurugram and her mother and brother from Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. They were charged with abetting Subhash’s suicide and were brought to Bengaluru before being remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. The family’s legal troubles began when Subhash was found hanging in his Bengaluru home on December 9. His tragic death was accompanied by a detailed suicide note that painted a heartbreaking picture of his struggles. Subhash alleged that he had endured years of emotional and financial torment, fueled by his marital disputes and multiple legal cases filed by Nikita and her family.
In the note, Subhash claimed that his wife had initiated false cases against him and demanded an exorbitant alimony of ₹2 lakh per month for herself and their four-year-old son. He also made serious allegations against a family court judge in Uttar Pradesh, suggesting that the judicial process had been unfairly influenced against him. This financial and emotional burden, he indicated, had pushed him to his breaking point.
The Bengaluru Police filed a case of abetment to suicide against Nikita and her family members shortly after Subhash’s death. Summons were issued, requiring them to appear for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. The arrests were seen as an important step forward, but the unresolved questions surrounding Subhash’s young son continue to weigh heavily on the family.
For the Modi family, the loss of Subhash is devastating enough, but the disappearance of their grandson adds another layer of heartbreak. They remain hopeful that justice will be served and that their missing grandson will be found, safe and sound. However, until that moment arrives, their days are filled with uncertainty, fear, and an unrelenting ache for answers.
