JioTag Go, an Android tracker that costs Rs 1,499 and supports Google Find My Device, was released

Reliance Jio has made a significant move in the Bluetooth tracker market by launching the JioTag Go in India. This tracker is the first of its kind to be compatible with Android smartphones, supporting Google's Find My Device network. With this feature, users can easily locate their lost or misplaced belongings, using the pre-installed Find My Device app that comes with every Android phone. At a price point of Rs 1,499, the JioTag Go offers a practical, cost-effective solution for Android users and is available for purchase on multiple platforms, including Amazon, JioMart, Reliance Digital, and My Jio stores. The device is offered in four distinct colors: black, orange, white, and yellow, catering to a wide range of consumer preferences.

The JioTag Go is designed to help users track various items, such as keys, wallets, bags, and luggage. Equipped with Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity, it pairs easily with Android devices, making it simple for users to connect and start tracking their belongings right away. The tracker is powered by a CR2032 coin cell battery, which offers an impressive battery life of up to one year, ensuring long-lasting performance without frequent replacements.

One of the standout features of the JioTag Go is its Play Sound option. When the tracker is within Bluetooth range, users can activate this feature through the Find My Device app, causing the tracker to emit a beeping sound, making it easier to locate the item. If the item goes out of Bluetooth range, the app leverages the broader Find My Device network, which helps track the last known location of the JioTag Go. The app also provides navigation assistance to help users find their belongings by guiding them to the precise location.

Compact and lightweight, the JioTag Go measures just 38.2 x 38.2 x 7.2 mm and weighs only 9g, making it highly portable and easy to carry on any item. However, the JioTag Go is only compatible with Android smartphones running Android 9 or later. Unfortunately, it does not support iPhones, which limits its use for Apple device owners.

The JioTag Go marks Reliance Jio's second foray into the Bluetooth tracker market. Earlier this year, in July, the company launched the JioTag Air, which supports Apple’s Find My network and is compatible with both iPhones (iOS 14 and later) and Android smartphones. By offering both the JioTag Go for Android users and the JioTag Air for Apple users, Reliance Jio has smartly expanded its reach to cater to the diverse consumer base in India, tapping into the large Android user market while still maintaining its presence among iPhone users.

In terms of competition, the JioTag Go provides a highly affordable alternative to the Apple AirTag, which is priced significantly higher at Rs 3,490 in India. While the AirTag boasts advanced technologies such as ultra-wideband (UWB) for highly accurate and precise tracking, as well as seamless integration with Apple devices, the JioTag Go focuses on delivering essential tracking features at a much lower cost. For Android users, the JioTag Go provides reliable Bluetooth-based tracking, coupled with the Find My Device network for last-known location tracking, making it an ideal option for those who do not need the advanced features offered by pricier alternatives like the AirTag.

Reliance Jio's entry into the Bluetooth tracker market reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to diversify its product portfolio and create more accessible solutions for Indian consumers. With its competitive pricing and practical features, the JioTag Go is well-positioned to disrupt the market and offer a budget-friendly solution for users looking to safeguard their valuables.
