New developments have surfaced regarding the shocking attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Mumbai's Bandra West, shedding further light on the ongoing investigation. Two days after the violent incident, a new CCTV image of the attacker has emerged, showing him in a yellow t-shirt, contrasting with the blue shirt he was seen wearing in earlier visuals and the black t-shirt he wore during the attack. The new evidence is aiding Mumbai Police in their intense efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect.
The intruder, who has been identified but not yet arrested, is believed to have used a train from Bandra to either move around the city or flee to another location. Multiple police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from various railway stations across Mumbai to track his movements and gather additional clues. Despite identifying the individual, the suspect remains at large, and the Mumbai Police have formed 35 dedicated teams to ensure his capture.
The attack, as described in the FIR, was a harrowing experience for the Khan family. The intruder managed to enter the bedroom of Saif's younger son, Jeh, before being spotted by house help Eliyama Philip, who immediately raised an alarm. Saif rushed to intervene, and during the confrontation, he suffered six serious stab wounds, including a critical injury to his thoracic spine. The 54-year-old actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery to remove the knife, repair leaking spinal fluid, and stabilize his condition. Saif is now recovering and out of danger.
The incident also left two other house staff injured when the assailant attacked them with a hexa blade. The situation has raised serious concerns about the breach of security at Saif's 12th-floor apartment, with many questioning how the attacker was able to bypass safeguards and gain such close access to the family.
As part of the investigation, Mumbai Police recorded statements from Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and house help Eliyama Philip, who described the intruder as a slim man aged 35-40, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a dark complexion, wearing dark pants and a shirt along with a cap. The police have interrogated several individuals, including a carpenter resembling the attacker, but no arrests have been made. The carpenter was released after questioning.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the public that the police are actively working on the case and have gathered significant clues. He stated that the attacker would be apprehended soon, and justice will be served. This assurance comes amidst growing public outrage and concerns over celebrity safety, especially given the apparent security lapses that allowed the attacker to access the Khan family's residence undetected.
The Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), led by its president Ashoke Pandit, has strongly condemned the attack, calling it "inhuman" and raising questions about the severe security lapse that enabled such a dangerous incident. The organization has expressed solidarity with Saif Ali Khan and his family, urging authorities to take strict action against the perpetrator and implement stronger safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
