Directors' association condemns Saif Ali Khan's attack: We are quite saddened

On January 16, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was reportedly attacked at his residence in Bandra West, sustaining injuries to his hand, neck, and spine. The incident has sent shockwaves through the film industry, prompting swift condemnation from the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA). Led by President Ashoke Pandit, the association released an open letter on Thursday, denouncing the attack as “inhuman” and expressing deep concern over the severe security breach that allowed the assailant to enter the actor’s apartment.

In the letter, the IFTDA voiced their outrage over the shocking lapse in security, questioning how the attacker was able to access the 12th-floor apartment without being detected. The statement emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting how the attacker was able to wait undetected and then strike, leading to significant harm. "We are at a loss to know how the attacker reached the 12th floor of Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s flat, waited for the attack, and stabbed him, causing serious injuries," the open letter read.

This troubling attack has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of public figures in the country, especially in high-profile areas like Bandra West, known for being a hub for many celebrities. Fans and colleagues have expressed shock and distress over the news, rallying in support of the actor's recovery while calling for increased security measures for those in the limelight.
