The attacker, identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, was apprehended by Mumbai Police from Thane city the following day. He was presented before a metropolitan magistrate's court and remanded to five-day police custody for further investigation. The 3-inch knife used in the attack has been recovered, with hospital authorities displaying it to the media to highlight the severity of the assault.
