Priya Saroj of the Samajwadi Party is engaged to cricketer Rinku Singh: References

India cricketer Rinku Singh, a key player for both the Indian national team and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, is engaged to Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Samajwadi Party (SP), sources confirmed to India Today. The 27-year-old Rinku Singh has gained significant recognition for his consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL, eventually earning his international debut for India in 2023. His rise to prominence in the cricketing world continues to capture attention, and now, his personal life is making headlines as well.

Priya Saroj, born in November 1998 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, became an MP for Machhlishahr after winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on an SP ticket. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a senior SP leader who had represented the Machhlishahr constituency three times— in the elections of 1999, 2004, and 2009. Priya completed her graduation from Delhi University before pursuing an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from Amity University, Noida. Before stepping into politics, she also practiced as a lawyer in the Supreme Court.

Although Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj have not publicly announced their engagement, sources revealed the news, indicating that the families are yet to make an official statement. Recently, Priya Saroj posted on social media that she was leaving her city for a 10-day period, which may have been related to personal matters.

On the cricket front, Rinku Singh last played a domestic match on January 3, representing Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Vidarbha. He is set to return to action in the upcoming five-match T20I series against England, beginning on January 22. Rinku is part of the 15-member squad announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors earlier this month. The series will kick off with the first match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Rinku's consistency in the T20 format has earned him a regular spot in the Indian team, and he remains a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, KKR retained Rinku Singh for a hefty Rs 13 crore, underscoring his importance to the franchise and further cementing his status as one of the IPL's top talents.
