Six days following the stabbing incident, Saif Ali Khan was released from the hospital

Actor Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital after spending several days under medical care following a violent burglary attempt at his Bandra residence. The harrowing incident occurred in the early hours of January 16, when an intruder broke into Saif's residence, Satguru Sharan, and attacked him with a sharp object during a scuffle. The actor sustained six stab wounds while bravely defending his household staff and family from the attacker, who had grown aggressive during the intrusion. Saif's quick and selfless actions reportedly prevented the intruder from harming his youngest son, Jeh, or any other family members.

Saif underwent two critical surgeries to treat his injuries, which were severe but not life-threatening. Doctors at Lilavati Hospital, led by Dr. Nitin Dange, closely monitored his recovery, ensuring no complications arose from the wounds or the surgical procedures. During his hospitalization, a 3-inch fragment of the sharp weapon used in the attack was removed from his body, highlighting the gravity of the assault. Saif's mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, were present at the hospital throughout his treatment, along with other family members who provided unwavering support during this distressing time.

The attacker, identified as 30-year-old Bangladeshi national Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, was arrested by Mumbai Police in Thane city on January 21. He was produced before a metropolitan magistrate’s court later that day and has been remanded to five days in police custody for further investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the intruder may have targeted the household for more than just theft, as he ignored valuables left in plain sight. Kareena Kapoor Khan, in her statement to the police, revealed that the assailant became violent during the confrontation and attempted to hold the house help hostage. She credited Saif for his heroic actions in preventing further escalation and ensuring everyone’s safety.

The actor’s bravery has been widely lauded by fans and the film industry alike. Messages of concern and support have poured in from colleagues, friends, and admirers, all expressing relief at his recovery and gratitude for his courage in such a terrifying situation. Saif was officially discharged from the hospital earlier today, between 10 am and 12 pm, and is now recovering at home under the care of his family.

On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in the Telugu blockbuster Devara, directed by Koratala Siva, where he shared the screen with Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. The film, which has been well-received by audiences, marked another milestone in Saif’s versatile career. While the incident has understandably delayed any immediate professional commitments, Saif is expected to take his time to heal both physically and emotionally before resuming work. Fans continue to shower him with love and prayers, hoping to see him back on screen soon in his signature charismatic form.
