Wi-Fi is now available on a few domestic flights operated by Air India. Verify the specifics

Air India, India’s leading global airline, has become the first in the country to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on domestic routes. Starting January 1, 2025, passengers aboard select Air India aircraft, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and certain Airbus A321neo models, will enjoy complimentary internet access during their flights, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the travel experience.

This pioneering move promises to elevate the flying experience for both business and leisure passengers, allowing them to browse the internet, engage on social media, work, or stay connected with friends and family while in the air. The introduction of Wi-Fi in domestic flights brings a new level of convenience, ensuring passengers stay connected no matter where they are.

Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India, highlighted the importance of connectivity in modern travel, stating, “Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. For some, it is about the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while for others, it is about greater productivity and efficiency." He added, "Whatever be one’s purpose, we are confident that our guests will appreciate having the option of connecting to the web and enjoy the new Air India experience on board these aircraft."

The Wi-Fi service is designed to be compatible with a wide range of devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones running iOS or Android. Passengers can even connect multiple devices at the same time, ensuring uninterrupted access throughout their journey. This connectivity feature is expected to be especially beneficial for business travelers who require a stable connection to remain productive while in transit.

The Wi-Fi service on domestic flights comes after a successful pilot program on international routes, which included long-haul destinations such as New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. During the introductory phase, passengers will enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi access on domestic flights, with future plans to expand this offering to Air India’s entire fleet.

To connect to the Wi-Fi, passengers need to follow simple steps:

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your device.
  2. Select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network.
  3. Enter your PNR (Passenger Name Record) and last name on the Air India portal.
  4. Enjoy complimentary internet access.

While the service will depend on factors like satellite connectivity and government restrictions, Air India’s initiative is a significant leap forward in enhancing passenger convenience and ensuring a seamless travel experience.

This move not only sets a new benchmark in Indian aviation but also underscores Air India’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. By offering in-flight Wi-Fi, the airline ensures that passengers can stay connected and productive even at 35,000 feet, making the flying experience more enjoyable and efficient. Whether for work or leisure, staying online during flights is now a reality for Air India passengers.
