Ben Duckett makes Champions Trophy history against England with a 143-ball 165

England’s Ben Duckett produced a historic knock in the Champions Trophy 2025, smashing 165 off 143 balls against Australia in Lahore on Saturday, February 22. Duckett became the first player to score 150 in Champions Trophy history, setting a new benchmark in the tournament. This inning also marked his highest ODI score, cementing his place among England’s premier batters.

England’s Commanding Total of 351

Australia, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first and struck early as Phil Salt fell for a low score courtesy of a stunning catch by Alex Carey. Duckett then built a solid partnership with Joe Root, adding 158 runs, which laid the foundation for England’s massive total. Duckett reached his fifty in 49 balls and picked up the pace as the innings progressed.

He completed his century in 95 deliveries—his third in ODIs and second against Australia—and continued his onslaught, dismantling the Aussie attack with calculated aggression. By the time he reached 134, Duckett had surpassed Joe Root’s record for the highest individual score by an England batter in Champions Trophy history. Shortly after, he went past Nathan Astle’s 145, which previously stood as the highest score in the tournament’s history.

Duckett’s spectacular 150 came off 134 balls, featuring 17 boundaries and 3 sixes, before he was finally dismissed by Marnus Labuschagne while attempting to accelerate in the final overs.

England’s innings concluded on a commanding 351, thanks to some late fireworks from Jofra Archer, who smashed a boundary and a six in the last over, ensuring a daunting target for Australia.

With history already made, the spotlight now shifts to England’s bowlers as they look to defend this mammoth total against a formidable Australian batting lineup. Will Duckett’s record-breaking knock be enough to steer England to victory? The second innings promises high drama in Lahore.
