Deva box office Day 3: Shahid Kapoor's film nears Rs 20 crore in 1st weekend

Shahid Kapoor's latest film, Deva, experienced a solid start at the box office, with its first Sunday collection reaching approximately Rs 7.15 crore. This brought the total earnings for the film over the first weekend to Rs 19.05 crore. The movie garnered a mix of reviews, which seemed to help build some positive momentum, especially on Saturday and Sunday.

Directed by Roshan Matthews, Deva sees Shahid playing the role of a cop, a character that has drawn attention for his intense portrayal. The film had an opening day collection of Rs 5.5 crore, with a slight increase on the second day, earning Rs 6.4 crore, according to the trade website Sacnilk.

Alongside Shahid Kapoor, the film also features Pooja Hegde in a prominent role, adding star power to the cast. Despite its mixed reviews, the film appears to be performing decently, though its performance so far is still behind Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, a film released last year. That film, starring Kriti Sanon, opened with Rs 6.7 crore and had an impressive Sunday collection of Rs 10.75 crore, taking its first weekend total to Rs 27.1 crore. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya ultimately wrapped up its lifetime earnings at Rs 85.16 crore and was considered a hit at the box office.

While Deva still has a long way to go to match the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, it will be interesting to observe its trajectory over the next few weeks. The film’s ability to maintain steady box office numbers will determine if it can eventually find success and sustain its momentum, or if it will struggle to match its competitors in the long run.
