Rajit Gupta, a resident of Mahavir Nagar in Career City, Kota, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a perfect 100 percentile in the JEE Main 2025 January session. His journey to the top has been defined by a well-balanced approach, strong conceptual clarity, and an attitude that sets him apart from most JEE toppers. While many aspirants attribute their success to rigorous study schedules and long hours of practice, Rajit believes his secret ingredient is something unusual yet profoundly effective—happiness.
"Happiness is my key to success. I remain happy in every situation," Rajit says with confidence, highlighting the importance of maintaining a positive mindset even in the face of intense academic pressure. His ability to stay calm and content has played a crucial role in his preparation, allowing him to approach studies with a fresh and motivated mind.
Unlike several JEE toppers who follow highly structured and rigid study timetables, Rajit took a more unconventional and relaxed approach. "I never strictly followed a schedule for studies because it creates unnecessary pressure. So I used to study only when I felt like it, but for whatever time I studied, I used to study well," he shares. This flexible strategy allowed him to stay mentally refreshed and fully focused whenever he sat down to study, ensuring that he grasped concepts effectively instead of just memorizing them.
Another key factor in Rajit’s success was his keen ability to identify his mistakes and work on improving them systematically. "The main focus was that I should not repeat the mistakes because only when mistakes are removed, the foundation of your subject becomes strong," he explains. He firmly believes that success in JEE is not about how much time one spends studying but about making the most of the study hours by focusing on eliminating errors and reinforcing concepts. Instead of just moving on from mistakes, Rajit actively worked on understanding the reasons behind them, refining his approach over time.
Such was his confidence in his performance that he did not even feel the need to check the JEE Main answer key. "My father told me to check the answer key once, but I said, 'Papa, don't worry, I will qualify for Advanced'," he recalls. This level of self-assurance came from his thorough preparation and the strong foundation he had built in all three subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Beyond JEE Main, Rajit has consistently demonstrated academic excellence throughout his school years. He scored an impressive 97% in his Class 10 CBSE board exams, proving his ability to excel in both competitive and board exams. Additionally, his achievements extend beyond JEE, as he has participated in and won several prestigious science competitions. In Class 11, he represented India at the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2024, held in Malaysia, where he brought home a bronze medal, a significant achievement on the international stage.
Moreover, Rajit was selected three times for the prestigious OCSC (Orientation-Cum-Selection Camp) at HBCSE Mumbai in three different categories—Junior Science, Astronomy, and Physics. These selections highlight his deep interest in science and his ability to perform exceptionally well in high-level academic challenges. His achievements in various Olympiads reflect his love for problem-solving and his ability to apply concepts in practical and competitive environments.
Despite his rigorous preparation and academic commitments, Rajit made sure to take breaks and engage in recreational activities. "I am currently in Class 12, but whenever I get a chance, I play with the children of the colony," he shares, emphasizing the importance of balancing studies with leisure. This habit of taking breaks helped him stay stress-free and refreshed, allowing him to study with better concentration.
Unlike many JEE aspirants who completely avoid smartphones due to the fear of distractions, Rajit chose a different path. Instead of cutting off from technology, he used his phone wisely, ensuring that it served as a tool for learning rather than a source of distraction. "I didn’t stop using my phone, but I only used WhatsApp and that too only for studies," he reveals. His disciplined approach toward technology ensured that he stayed connected to important study materials and discussions while avoiding unnecessary distractions.
When it comes to time management, Rajit believes in a simple yet powerful approach. "The best advice for time management is practice only," he says. According to him, consistent and focused practice is the key to mastering any subject. He stresses that instead of worrying too much about how to manage time, students should focus on solving problems, analyzing mistakes, and improving step by step.
Rajit's success is not just his own; his family has played a significant role in supporting and encouraging him throughout his journey. His father, Deepak Gupta, works as a sub-divisional engineer in BSNL, while his mother, Dr. Shruti Agarwal, is a professor of home science at JDB College. Their unwavering support and belief in his potential have been instrumental in his achievements.
In addition to his family's support, Allen Career Institute also played a crucial role in his preparation. "Allen is the perfect institute for preparing for exams like JEE. Here, apart from the teachers' guidelines and Allen's study material, you do not need to get distracted anywhere," Rajit acknowledges. He credits the coaching institute for providing a structured learning environment, expert guidance, and high-quality study materials that helped him excel.
For JEE aspirants, Rajit has a clear and practical piece of advice: "NCERT is a must for chemistry." He emphasizes that while many students look for extra reference books, the NCERT textbooks are the foundation for mastering chemistry and should never be ignored.
Achieving a perfect 100 percentile in JEE Main is just one milestone in Rajit's academic journey. His focus is now on the next big challenge—JEE Advanced 2025. With his strong foundation, smart study techniques, and unwavering confidence, he is determined to give his best performance in the upcoming exam.
Rajit's inspiring journey serves as a powerful reminder that success is not just about studying for long hours or following a strict routine. Instead, it is about studying smart, staying happy, and believing in oneself. His story proves that a positive mindset, self-discipline, and an effective learning strategy can help students achieve their dreams, no matter how tough the competition may be.
