Tom Cruise has once again pushed the boundaries of action cinema with his daring stunts in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The 62-year-old actor, known for his commitment to performing his own stunts, recently gave fans a thrilling sneak peek into one of the most intense sequences of the upcoming film.
On Saturday, Cruise shared a jaw-dropping video of himself hanging from an upside-down plane mid-air while director Christopher McQuarrie captured the heart-stopping moment. “Hang on...” the actor simply captioned the clip, letting the visuals do the talking. The video immediately went viral, further cementing Cruise’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most fearless action stars.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Cruise revealed that he actually passed out while executing the high-risk stunt. “When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen,” he explained. “So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.” Despite the extreme conditions, the actor pushed through, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to delivering an unparalleled cinematic experience.
Director Christopher McQuarrie, who has helmed several Mission: Impossible films, also spoke about the film’s adrenaline-pumping sequences, teasing that audiences will witness stunts beyond anything seen before. “There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain,” he said. Recalling the challenges of filming in Africa, he added, “There would be a day in Africa—any day in Africa—where Tom would go out and do something that topped anything he had ever done before.”
McQuarrie also hinted at an undisclosed sequence in the film that surpasses even Cruise’s most daring feats. “I truly want to puke thinking about the stress. It was intense,” he admitted, underscoring the film’s relentless pursuit of pushing action to new heights.
