Trailer for Mere Husband Ki Biwi: Rakul, Bhumi, and Arjun in a dysfunctional love circle

The makers of Mere Husband Ki Biwi launched the film's trailer on Saturday in Mumbai, revealing a captivating blend of humor, romance, and unexpected twists. The movie, starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles, presents a quirky and comedic narrative that centers around a love triangle complicated by amnesia, adding a humorous spin to the dynamics of love, relationships, and second chances.

In the story, Bhumi Pednekar portrays Prabhleen, Arjun Kapoor's bold ex-wife, who, after being diagnosed with amnesia, forgets their divorce entirely. Ankur (played by Arjun Kapoor) is now involved with Antara (Rakul Preet Singh), and the two try to navigate through Prabhleen's confused and unintentional attempt at saving her marriage. This unexpected memory loss creates a comical and chaotic scenario where Ankur finds himself torn between his ex-wife and his current partner, leading to a hilarious conflict between the two women fighting for his attention. The result is a rollercoaster of confusion, laughter, and plenty of arguments as Ankur is forced to make difficult decisions while balancing the present with the past.

The plot echoes a familiar Bollywood trope—two women competing for the affection of the same man. This well-worn formula is given a refreshing twist, thanks to the backdrop of amnesia and the unexpected reunion of estranged lovers. The film captures the humorous chaos that ensues when the past unexpectedly resurfaces, threatening to derail the present and testing the boundaries of love and loyalty. The engaging narrative also highlights how some things, particularly love and relationships, cannot be planned, as life often throws curveballs, making it impossible to stick to a preordained script.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, who is known for his knack for lighthearted, commercially successful films, Mere Husband Ki Biwi brings a fresh and sarcastic perspective on relationships. Aziz, who also directed last year's Khel Khel Mein starring Akshay Kumar, is well-versed in creating films that appeal to family audiences with a mixture of humor and emotional moments. At the trailer launch event, Aziz discussed the challenges comedy films face in the Indian film industry, pointing out how these movies rarely receive the recognition they deserve. Despite their immense popularity with audiences, especially families, comedy films have not always been celebrated by the industry or awards committees.

Aziz expressed his frustration, saying, "Comedy doesn’t get its due in the industry. If you look at the history of Indian cinema and the history of awards in Bollywood, you don't find any comedy films making it big, or being remembered as great movies. This, despite the fact that most families love to watch comedy movies when they are together. I think it's only by the grace of God that I can write comedy and entertain people with laughter. Even if it means putting a tiny smile on someone's face. I’ll keep making these comedy films as long as I can put a smile on people's faces." His words reflect his passion for the genre and his commitment to producing films that deliver joy and entertainment to viewers.

Along with the lead trio, the film also features a talented supporting cast, including stand-up comedian Harsh Gujral, veteran actor Shakti Kapoor, and Dino Morea, all of whom contribute to the film’s lively and engaging atmosphere. The addition of these diverse talents is expected to elevate the overall experience, bringing a variety of comedic flavors to the screen.

The film's release, scheduled for February 21, promises to offer a fun and refreshing escape for moviegoers. With its mix of humor, romance, and relatable moments, Mere Husband Ki Biwi seems to be a light-hearted, sarcastic take on relationships and the unpredictable nature of life. It’s a story about people attempting to control their fate, only to find that life rarely follows the script they’ve written for themselves. The film is likely to resonate with anyone who’s experienced the complexities of love, relationships, and the twists and turns that come with them. Whether you’re looking for a good laugh, a bit of drama, or an exploration of the unpredictable nature of life, this film appears to check all the boxes.
