West Bengal: Arrest of another suspect in the 2022 Bhupatinagar bomb case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant arrest in connection with the 2022 Bhupatinagar bomb blast case in West Bengal, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The blast occurred at the residence of Raj Kumar Manna, the then-booth president of the Trinamool Congress. Manna died instantly in the explosion, while two others, Buddhadeb Manna (also known as Lalu) and Trinamool worker Biswajit Gayen, sustained severe injuries and later died.

The arrested individual, Pachanan Ghorai, a resident of Bhupatinagar in Purba Medinipur district, was taken into custody after a thorough investigation by the NIA. Ghorai had been the subject of a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued during the investigation. The NIA, which took over the case from the West Bengal Police, has revealed that the explosion was part of a broader criminal conspiracy.

The investigation suggests that explosives were being supplied for the manufacturing of bombs, to incite terror and violence in the region. This development indicates a coordinated effort to disrupt peace and stability, and further investigations are expected to uncover more details about the network behind this attack.
