Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the recently released historical drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, for its powerful storytelling and deep cultural significance. Speaking about Maharashtra and Mumbai’s role in shaping Indian cinema, he remarked, “It is Maharashtra and Mumbai that have elevated Hindi cinema along with Marathi films. And these days, Chhaava is making waves.”
The film, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has received widespread appreciation for its grand scale, compelling narrative, and portrayal of historical events. Modi acknowledged the importance of the film in bringing the story of Sambhaji Maharaj to a larger audience, stating, “It is through Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel that we have been introduced to the valor of Sambhaji Maharaj in this form.” His remarks have further elevated the film’s prominence, as audiences and historians alike celebrate its attempt to bring a crucial chapter of Indian history to the big screen.
Chhaava is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
