Elon Musk on Tuesday unveiled Grok 3, the latest iteration of xAI’s chatbot, which aims to rival ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Perplexity. Under the Grok 3 umbrella, there are two models—Grok 3 beta and Grok 3 mini—both of which boast significant improvements over their predecessors. According to xAI engineers, Grok 3 is ten times more capable than Grok 2 and has been trained on an impressive 200,000 GPUs. Musk, confident in its capabilities, stated at the launch that he is “1000 per cent sure” users will fall in love with it. However, access to Grok 3 remains exclusive to Premium+ subscribers on X, and within hours of the announcement, X significantly increased the price of this subscription tier.
The Premium+ plan, which was previously priced at Rs 1,750 per month in India, has now nearly doubled to Rs 2,861.67 per month. The annual plan has also seen a steep hike, jumping from Rs 18,300 per year to Rs 34,340. X initially introduced the Premium+ tier in October 2023, offering subscribers benefits such as the ability to edit posts, share longer posts and videos, undo options, and background video playback. Additionally, it provides an ad-free experience in the ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ sections, a reply boost for content creators, and monetization tools like Get Paid to Post, Creator Subscriptions, X Pro, Media Studio, and Analytics.
Security features such as SMS two-factor authentication—now a paid privilege—encrypted DMs, verified checkmarks, and ID verification are also part of the Premium+ plan. Subscribers can further personalize their experience with custom app icons, themes, and navigation settings.
Meanwhile, on the xAI platform, a new subscription tier called Super Grok has been introduced. This tier is designed for users seeking the most advanced AI capabilities and early access to new features. Super Grok subscriptions will be available on both the Grok app and the newly launched grok.com website, further expanding access to xAI’s technology.
