According to Sandeep Vanga, prosthetics were not used during the filming of Ranbir's nude scene in Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently shared insights into the making of Animal, particularly the much-discussed nude walk scene featuring Ranbir Kapoor. The filmmaker confirmed that Kapoor performed the scene without prosthetics after initial attempts to use them didn’t yield the desired results. In a conversation with Screen, Vanga recalled how the actor showed complete trust in his vision, agreeing to the creative decision without hesitation.

The director explained that while prosthetics were initially planned for the thighs and lower body, they didn't look natural on camera. Instead of using them, the team opted to film the scene slightly out of focus, heightening its eerie and unsettling effect. Vanga stated, "We had to put a prosthetic for the thighs and lower part of the body, and it was perfect during the test shoot. However, during the actual shooting, it wasn’t looking nice. So I said we would shoot the scene out of focus. Ranbir just said okay immediately. There was no discussion—it was a ten-minute conversation."

He also emphasized Kapoor’s unwavering commitment to the project, saying, "Whatever I liked, he liked, and I’m still not sure how it happened. Even when I asked him if we were going in the right direction, he simply asked me to do what I wanted and not ask him anything." The film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, became a massive box-office success and is now streaming on Netflix.

Looking ahead, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is preparing for his next project, Spirit, starring Prabhas, while Ranbir Kapoor has teamed up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love and War, where he will star alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
