NHL: The Kings score five goals in a row to defeat the Bruins

The Los Angeles Kings erupted for five straight goals to break open a tense 2-2 tie, storming to a dominant 7-2 victory over the struggling Boston Bruins on Sunday night. The Kings displayed impressive depth, with seven different players finding the scoresheet. Veteran defenseman Drew Doughty jump-started the offensive onslaught at 8:46 of the second period, and the team never looked back. Quinton Byfield and Tanner Jeannot each contributed a goal and an assist, while team captain Anze Kopitar, Warren Foegele, Andrei Kuzmenko, and Samuel Helenius rounded out the scoring, showcasing a balanced attack. The win marked Los Angeles’ third straight victory and their eighth in the last nine games, pushing them into a tie with the Edmonton Oilers for second place in the Pacific Division as they continue to surge toward the playoffs.

The Bruins, now stuck in a six-game winless streak (0-5-1), struggled to keep pace despite goals from Kuemper Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie. Goalie Jeremy Swayman endured a tough night, surrendering seven goals on just 23 shots — a rare off performance from Boston’s usually reliable netminder. The loss leaves the Bruins searching for answers as they fight to hold onto their playoff position in a fiercely competitive Eastern Conference.

Buffalo Sabres 5, Winnipeg Jets 3
Ryan McLeod led the charge for the Buffalo Sabres with a career-best performance, registering a goal and three assists for his first-ever four-point NHL game. JJ Peterka, Rasmus Dahlin, and Tyson Kozak also scored, while defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker added two assists to help Buffalo snap a two-game skid. Goaltender James Reimer held strong, stopping 33 shots to secure the victory on the road.

The Winnipeg Jets, who had won four of their last five coming into the contest, managed goals from Nino Niederreiter, Colin Miller, and Nikolaj Ehlers but couldn’t overcome Buffalo’s persistent attack. Goalie Eric Comrie, facing his former team, made just 12 saves, and the Jets found themselves outmatched despite a strong offensive push in the third period.

Chicago Blackhawks 7, Philadelphia Flyers 4
The Chicago Blackhawks erupted offensively to snap a frustrating seven-game losing streak, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 7-4 in a high-energy home performance. Ryan Donato led the charge with two goals, while Tyler Bertuzzi added a goal and two assists to fuel the offensive explosion. Chicago’s rookie sensation Connor Bedard — showing why he was the first overall pick — contributed a goal and an assist, alongside Joe Veleno and Pat Maroon, who also chipped in with a goal and an assist each. It was a much-needed breakout for the Blackhawks, who had scored just 10 goals during their seven-game slide before torching Flyers goalie Ivan Fedotov for seven goals on 29 shots.

The Flyers, now on a five-game skid of their own, saw strong performances from Travis Konecny and Jamie Drysdale, who each had a goal and an assist, while Travis Sanheim and Bobby Brink also found the net. Spencer Knight stopped 24 shots in goal, but the Flyers' defensive breakdowns left him exposed too often.

Vegas Golden Knights 4, Tampa Bay Lightning 2
Ilya Samsonov delivered a stellar 35-save performance to guide the Vegas Golden Knights to their third straight victory, holding off the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2. Jack Eichel continued his impressive form with a goal, joined on the scoresheet by Tomas Hertl, Nicolas Roy, and Nicolas Hague. Veteran defenseman Alex Pietrangelo added two assists, helping Vegas extend their Pacific Division lead to five points.

The Lightning, struggling to keep pace in the Atlantic Division race, got goals from Nick Paul and Nikita Kucherov, but goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy faced a relentless Vegas attack, making 26 saves. Tampa Bay now sits four points behind the first-place Florida Panthers, increasing the pressure as the season winds down.

St. Louis Blues 4, Nashville Predators 1
The St. Louis Blues continued their red-hot form with a commanding 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators, extending their winning streak to six games. Justin Faulk paced the Blues with a goal and an assist, while Robert Thomas was the playmaker of the night, dishing out three assists. Jordan Kyrou, Alexandre Texier, and Brayden Schenn each found the back of the net, with Jake Neighbours adding two assists. Goalie Jordan Binnington remained steady, making 31 saves to secure the win. The Blues’ impressive 13-2-2 run over their last 17 games has propelled them into the second Western Conference wild-card spot, putting pressure on the teams above them.

Nashville’s lone goal came from Filip Forsberg, while Justus Annunen made 14 saves in a tough outing. The Predators’ recent struggles continued, leaving them at 1-4-1 in their last six games and fighting to stay in the postseason picture.

Florida Panthers 4, Pittsburgh Penguins 3 (SO)
Aleksander Barkov delivered the decisive shootout goal, lifting the Florida Panthers to a thrilling 4-3 comeback win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sam Reinhart kept Florida in the game with two goals, while Anton Lundell added another. Sergei Bobrovsky turned in a strong performance with 24 saves, helping Florida secure only their third win in the last seven games as they battle to hold onto their playoff seeding.

Bryan Rust led the Penguins’ offense with two goals and an assist, while Evgeni Malkin added a goal. Captain Sidney Crosby extended his point streak to seven games with two assists, giving him six goals and six assists during the impressive run. Tristan Jarry made 27 saves but couldn’t stop Barkov’s clutch shootout effort, leaving Pittsburgh with their second loss in seven games.

Carolina Hurricanes 5, Anaheim Ducks 2
Taylor Hall delivered a dramatic third-period hat trick, powering the Carolina Hurricanes to a bounce-back 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Mark Jankowski and Jordan Martinook also scored for Carolina, while former Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen made 35 saves — including a spectacular 19-save third period — to secure the victory. The Hurricanes extended their Metropolitan Division lead to 10 points over the New Jersey Devils, regaining momentum after their eight-game win streak was snapped by the Kings on Saturday.

For Anaheim, Alex Killorn and Trevor Zegras each found the net, but the Ducks couldn’t contain Carolina’s late push. Lukas Dostal made 32 saves but was under siege for most of the third period as Anaheim dropped their third game in four outings, further complicating their chase for a Western Conference wild-card spot.
