On March 15, CBSE will administer a special exam to pupils who are celebrating Holi

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a compassionate provision for students whose board exams coincide with Holi celebrations on March 15, 2025, particularly in regions where the festival extends beyond the usual day. While most of the country will celebrate Holi on March 14, some areas will continue festivities on March 15, potentially making it difficult for students to attend their exams. To ensure no student faces academic setbacks due to cultural traditions, CBSE will offer an alternative exam date for those unable to appear on the original scheduled day.

This special arrangement is intended to balance academic commitments with cultural and regional sensitivities, reflecting CBSE’s commitment to supporting students in diverse situations. Those who choose to skip the March 15 exam due to Holi celebrations will be given another chance to appear for a special examination on a later date. This opportunity mirrors CBSE's existing provision for students engaged in national or international sports competitions, ensuring fairness for those with unavoidable, significant commitments.

The Class 12 Hindi Core (302) and Hindi Elective (002) exams are slated for March 15. The Class 12 exams will continue until April 2, while Class 10 exams are scheduled to conclude by March 18.

CBSE released an official statement explaining the provision: "While the examination would be held on 15.03.2025, those students who find it difficult to appear on that day may decide not to appear. They will be allowed to take a special examination as per CBSE policy."

Further details regarding how affected students can apply for the special exam will be announced soon. The board emphasized that this measure aims to uphold the academic integrity of the exams while respecting cultural traditions, ensuring no student is forced to choose between an important festival and their education.

This move has been widely appreciated by parents, students, and educators, recognizing it as a progressive step towards fostering an inclusive, student-friendly examination environment. Many have praised CBSE’s thoughtful approach, acknowledging that this decision reduces stress for students caught between academic responsibility and cultural participation. By offering this flexibility, CBSE not only supports students' educational journeys but also acknowledges the importance of cultural identity and community celebrations in their lives.
