PM Modi gave rapper Hanumankind a lot of credit for his song Run it Up

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Indian-origin rapper Hanumankind for his latest song Run It Up during his Mann Ki Baat address. The Prime Minister praised the music video for beautifully integrating elements of India’s rich cultural heritage, particularly its traditional martial arts, including Kalaripayattu from Kerala, as well as Gatka and Thang-ta, which have historical and cultural significance in different parts of the country.

"You must be aware of the popular rapper Humankind. These days, his new song, Run It Up, is becoming quite famous. In the music video, our traditional martial arts like Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-ta are included in the clip. I want to congratulate Hanumankind because, thanks to him, people everywhere are now getting to know about these traditional sports," Modi said. He further emphasized the importance of showcasing India’s indigenous art forms and ancient fighting techniques through modern platforms like music videos, as it allows the younger generation and international audiences to develop a deeper appreciation for India's vast and diverse cultural history.

Hanumankind’s track not only highlights these martial arts but also integrates at least seven other traditional Indian folk references, making it a unique fusion of contemporary rap and age-old cultural expressions. His music video serves as an artistic tribute to India's rich legacy while simultaneously appealing to global audiences.

The rapper first gained global recognition with his hit song Big Dawgs, which became widely popular on social media, earning him a loyal fan base across different countries. Originally from Kerala, Hanumankind made his breakthrough in 2019 with his single Daily Dose, which established him as a force to be reckoned with in the Indian rap industry. Over the years, he has been known for blending modern hip-hop beats with Indian cultural elements, and Run It Up further cements his reputation as an artist who seamlessly merges tradition with contemporary music.

By bringing India's ancient martial arts into the spotlight, Run It Up has sparked discussions about the significance of preserving and promoting these traditional disciplines in a rapidly modernizing world. Many fans and cultural enthusiasts have applauded Hanumankind’s efforts, and with the Prime Minister’s endorsement, the song has gained even more visibility, furthering conversations about the importance of India’s artistic and martial traditions on a global stage.
