Black Warrant actor Paramvir Singh calls Border 2 co-star Sunny Deol shy, humble

After delivering a strong performance in Black Warrant, Paramvir Singh Cheema is now riding high on the success of Chamak 2, the musical drama series whose latest season just dropped on SonyLIV. The show has captured audience attention, and Paramvir is quickly becoming a familiar and respected face in the digital space. But his career is about to hit an even bigger milestone — with his much-anticipated Bollywood debut in Border 2.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today Digital, Paramvir shared his excitement about being a part of the patriotic war film, which boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh. Reflecting on the intense shoot, he said, “Being on the Border 2 set was a different experience altogether. You suddenly feel more patriotic, and that love for the nation makes you do unbelievable things." He recalled performing high-octane outdoor action scenes with bomb explosions and how the adrenaline kept him going—only to feel the exhaustion kick in once he was back home. "It was not only fun but a magical experience for me," he added.

Working alongside Sunny Deol was particularly memorable for Paramvir. “He is such a shy person,” he said, highlighting the unexpected contrast between Sunny’s soft-spoken, humble real-life demeanor and his powerful on-screen presence. “It was hard for me to believe that he was the man who said dialogues like ‘dhai kilo ka haath.’ But when the camera rolls, there’s this fire in his eyes that’s truly magnetic.”

Paramvir didn’t have scenes with Diljit Dosanjh but did get to share screen time with Varun Dhawan, who he described as “fantastic” and “so chill.” He noted that Varun carried no star-like airs and was a supportive co-actor throughout their schedule together.

The actor also opened up about how Border 2 changed his perspective on cinema. “I didn’t realise the sheer scale of films before shooting for this one. The reach films have — especially with the masses — is unmatched. No other medium can replicate that,” he said.

Apart from Border 2, Paramvir is also filming for Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, starring opposite Kriti Sanon and Dhanush. When asked whether he finally feels like he’s "arrived," he offered a thoughtful take: “After every project, you feel like this is it. But then something bigger and better comes along. It’s a constant journey for an actor.”

With Chamak 2 currently streaming and multiple high-profile projects in the pipeline, Paramvir Singh Cheema is undoubtedly a rising star to watch — equally at ease in web series, action-packed patriotic dramas, and big-banner romances.
