Washington Sundar is set to make his Gujarat Titans (GT) debut in Match 19 of IPL 2025, as they face off against his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 6. GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first on what’s traditionally known as a batting-friendly surface in Hyderabad.
Gill confirmed at the toss that Sundar comes in as a direct replacement for left-arm seamer Arshad Khan, who has taken just one wicket in two outings this season. Sundar, picked up for ₹3.20 crore at the mega auction, adds depth with both bat and ball. The 25-year-old has 60 IPL matches under his belt, with 378 runs and 37 wickets to his name. He featured in only two games for SRH in 2024, making his appearance against them today even more intriguing.
SRH made one change of their own, bringing in veteran left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat for Harshal Patel, who is reportedly down with illness. Unadkat, acquired for ₹1 crore, is on the brink of a personal milestone, needing just one more scalp to complete 100 IPL wickets.
Both teams have strong reasons to go hard at this contest: Gujarat Titans are riding high on back-to-back wins against Mumbai Indians and RCB, while SRH are desperate to arrest a three-match losing skid. With conditions favoring batters, fans can expect a high-scoring and competitive encounter.
