It turns out that the wife and her lover killed the Meerut guy who was bitten by a snake

The shocking murder of Amit in Meerut, initially dismissed as a bizarre case of a snakebite death, has unraveled into a chilling tale of deception, betrayal, and premeditated murder orchestrated by his own wife and her lover.

What Happened

Amit, a daily wage labourer, was found dead on his cot in Akbarpur Sadat village. Viral videos spread rapidly, showing villagers claiming that a snake had bitten him ten times while he slept, with the snake still under his body when found. The narrative seemed airtight—until the postmortem report shattered the illusion.

Key Revelations

  • Cause of Death: The postmortem revealed strangulation, not envenomation. There were no signs of venom spread, suggesting the snake was placed after Amit was already dead.

  • Confession: Upon confrontation, Amit's wife Ravita and her lover Amarjeet confessed. They admitted to being in a relationship for a year, which had led to rising tensions and frequent arguments between Ravita and Amit.

  • Murder Plot: The lovers conspired to kill Amit and staged the snakebite scene:

    • A snake was purchased for ₹1,000.

    • The couple strangled Amit, then placed the snake under his corpse.

    • They called a snake charmer the next morning to assist in legitimizing the fake scene.

Police Investigation

SP Rakesh Kumar confirmed the elaborate ruse, explaining how the snake was used to mislead both the villagers and police. The case, though initially bizarre, quickly turned into a grim reminder of how far people may go to escape marital conflict and pursue extramarital affairs.

Now, authorities are investigating:

  • Whether any villagers or the snake charmer were knowingly involved in staging the scene.

  • The extent of planning and whether similar cases might be hidden under the guise of natural deaths.

Parallels with Another Case

The murder draws disturbing comparisons to another recent incident in Meerut:

  • Muskan and Sahil, lovers, allegedly killed Muskan's husband, Saurabh, dismembered his body, and sealed it in a blue drum with cement. Both cases underscore a growing pattern of extreme criminal acts driven by illicit relationships and how murderers are becoming more calculated in staging scenes to delay detection.
