Shannon K, daughter of veteran Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu, is all set to make history as she prepares to perform at Coachella 2025, becoming the first indie Indian-origin artist to represent India at the iconic global music festival. She joins a growing list of Indian talent on the international stage, including Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon, who are also part of the star-studded Coachella lineup this year.
The festival, scheduled across two weekends — April 11–13 and April 18–20 — at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, will see over 120,000 music lovers gather for one of the world’s most celebrated music events. Shannon’s inclusion is a notable moment not just for her career, but also for indie Indian music, which often remains underrepresented on global stages.
In a statement brimming with emotion and pride, Shannon said:
“It’s on the bucket list of every Indian-origin indie artist working hard to break boundaries and make their music heard… This is the beginning of something incredible, and I’m so excited for it.”
Shannon will perform a set that includes her breakout hit “Give Me Your Hand”, which not only brought her international recognition but also earned her the Best International Singer Award. She will also perform fan-favourites like:
-
A Longtime
-
Always
-
Run
-
Retrace
Her music, a blend of pop, R&B, and Indian influences, has struck a chord with global audiences, and her Coachella debut could mark a turning point for indie Indian music on international platforms.
